Kid Fresh X Mad Decent

Musizieren verboten

PS I’ll be up for some heavy musizieren with the French messieurs Pfel & Atom of Beat Torrent and the Bavarian überhallodri Rob Reece of the Needle Addicts at Crux in Munich tonite.

Hallo Berlin

Nett hier. Aber waren Sie schonmal in Kowloon?

Guten Morgen Düsseldorf

Back pon di grind

Hell, I haven’t written shit in decades. All you get to see from me these days is flyer artwork and party pictures from the gazillions of raves I’m throwing (via Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy). Y’all, my heart is beating and I’m fine. Good times, bad times, we had ‘em all. My life these days is, let’s say, interesting. So why not constantly share stuff so I can be able to say “wanna know what I’m up to – read my blog, bitches”, I figured lately. Jeez, I sound like a fucking sociopath. But y’all who actually know me know that I’m a mother-in-law’s delight. I just can’t run with the hare and hunt with the hounds at the same time, ya dig?

Nuff luv to my fellow tweeters, but fuck a twitter, that shit ain’t me. It’s like a public facebook stripped down to the basics. Or an animal lexicon without pictures. Or a blog with a 140 character limit. Also, I don’t wanna read fools’ stupid ass, illiterate tweets ’bout how they woke up and what they had for brekkie (Except if it’s The Fat Jew, who for instance had frosted flakes out of a black stiletto heel this morning just to figure that it’s gross and gangsta at the same time). Facebook is aight and I dig it, but I’m most likely not going to approve your friend request unless I somehow got at least some kind of connection with you outside of FB (and I’m not talkin’ bout myspace, though I’ve been an über-tolerant lad lately). So I think constant blogging might be the way to go to get rid of my recent random prolixity, travelogue pics, stories about my adopted hometown and my occasional compulsion to share goodies from my bursting list of Youtube favorites and my absurd mp3 collection with random humans from all over ze world.

In case you haven’t noticed, I even archived all my past entries into a wordpress account, with the firmest of resolutions for frequent future blogging. All ya gotta do is subscribe to this one, eat some crackers and patiently wait for new entries. PS if you’re a frequent blog reader and you dont use Google Reader, you are s0 ’97. Also, I’ll manage to have a constant RSS export running to sites like alivenotdead.com, myspace and drmtm to make sure none of y’all gon’ miss a thang in the future.

Ok I’ll shut up for now and let the visuals talk. Who wants to read a blog entry about blogging anyway?

As I dusted off my harddrive, I found plenty of snaps that I slept on circling with words and slapping them onto the internetz, reminding me that I did done a bit of travelling in the last 2 months and maybe I shall share at least a few of the impressions I’ve been witnessing (even though I’m mad late. I hope y’all ain’t trippin’).

Stuff like thunderstorms over Paris on a late June summer night for instance, as seen from top of Montmartre,

or a bunch of dudes playing a deep match of Mahjong for cartons of bootleg ciggies in the streets of Shanghai.

Care for a super rainbow over Schlesisches Tor, Berlin, captured with a shitty cellphone cam?

Fancy some Swiss mountains, as seen from behind the windshield of the German überwhip I’ve been steering across Europe for more than 4.000km lately,

and having difficulties dealing with American tourists?

P1040444

You don’t want to see awkward family photos, do ya.

P1040230

Let me hit you with the obligatory crowd shot from one of my countless gigs instead. It was a bit of a cockforest, but nevertheless, Aachen, you were pretty wild that nite.

P1040281

Been there done that, let’s get back to the present. Now lay your eyes upon some Hong Kongian architecture as seen from the bird’s eye, will ya.

P1050195

Yeah, I kinda prefer to fuks wit that last one right now. Hong Kong, you’re still on top of my list, just to let you know. Even if subtropical summertimes are in full effect.

I ain’t even trippin’ about this:

In fact, I do love a jolly good typhoon from time to time. Can’t wait for the next one.

They turn HK into some sort of 鬼城,

which can be a refreshing alternative to the usual scene.

Youtube of the day: The Specials – Ghost Town

Nuff said.

PS I’ll buy a candy bar for the lucky bastard who can tell me why only the last 18 posts of my blog show up in Google Reader, instead of all 65, like it’s supposed to. Holla.

Euro extravaganza pt. II

Time is running FAST! But I’m the pilot. 5 countries and 12 cities in 5 weeks, and it still feels like I just touched the Euro ground. So here I am now, early early morning, sitting in the departure hall of Basel-Mulhouse airport, waiting for my flight to Krakow. When’s the last time I’ve blogged? Bout 2-3 weeks, right?
During my offdays I’ve spent some more time lurking around in Westside Germany, living ze German way of life, as you can see.

During my stay in Duesseldorf, I was invited to judge the German DMC Finals in Cologne, alongside old buddies/colleagues from Noisy Stylus. The competition was small and familiar, and the skill level was high. Congrats to Rob Bankz for taking the title! He’s a truly  amazing DJ, and as I heard, he didn’t do too bad at the World finals in London 2 days later to represent Deutschland!
After the club I rushed to the Airport to catch the 1st flight to Paris.
The only thing I really like about those early flights is to see the sun rise from a height of 10.000 feet.

Arrived in Paris without any sleep, took the bus to Charles de Gaulles Etoiles and made my way to Rue Miromesnil, where my lovely weekend residence was waiting for me, thanks to Tom of Excuse my French and DJ Pfel of C2C. Merci beaucoup, mes amis!

Obligatory Café au lait avec Croissants under the Parisian autumn-sun is a must.

Later that night I played a set with Malente and Projectiles at La Bellevilloise for the infamous Parisian Excuse My French series. Thanks to Bruno for taking pics!

Next day I had to get up early to catch the train to Kassel  at Gare de L’Est. I got picked up in Kassel by Janatic in a fancy german car and got taken to the Rewind pre-party to celebrate Ol’ Skool veteran DJ Danny D’s 335th bday!

Couldn’t stay there for too long, cause I had a gig to do in Göttingen – My “hometown”! I spent most of my childhood there, it’s a nice lil’ college city in the middle of Deutschland. Anyhow, I got taken there on the Autobahn with lightspeed.
The gig was a very familiar one – It was at the monthly party that I used to promote and organize myself for almost 3 years, now taken over by my Crewmate Ras.
It was an amazing night, just like in the good ol’ days, and all the old buddies came along and got me hammered on Jaegermeister. Thanks to Def Ink for the crazy live visuals and to N2H for the pics!

I couldn’t resist to spend some of my offdays in my old hometown to wallow in nostalgia a bit and see as many friends as possible. Everyone out there is making babies and getting married nowadays! Herzlichen Glueckwunsch!
I almost forgot how damn cute and quiet this place is. Time really seems to stand still.

Also, I was lucky enough to do a Photoshoot with T.Richter and Def Ink during my stay. All we had was 2 cams and some eqipment, a cold German autumn day, a parking garage by the campus, and an old gas mask. The result turned out great and  looks quite insane, somewhat like ALTERN8 meets MAD MAX.

Next day I swapped some tunes with Ras while doing my laundry at the laundromat,

before I had to rush to my next gig, in Freiburg in the deep south – of which they say it is the “warmest city in Germany.
Wasn’t all that warm, but the crowd was so insane that they made me wanna exceed my playtime by one hour!

No there ain’t no 7 Elevens in Germany, and taxis are hella expensive. After the gig and shortly before sunup, I decided to fight my starvation. So I ended up spending 30 Euros for some sloppy french fries from the nearest 24h gas station, including taxi fare. No there ain’t no 24h room service in German hotels. Bah.

After 80 hours of sleep- thanks to late check-out- My booker Luke picked me up in Freiburg to take me to Zurich, Switzerland. I was invited by Dave Jules Suivez to play a gig for The Cut in lovely Winterthur near Zurich with the Playgroundkids. Mad fun!

After the weekend I decided to lay low for a couple days to enjoy Zurich. Thanks to Luke & Makan for their hospitality!
Had an overdose of pasta and roeschti during those days, hung out with the infamous Hands Solo for a bit and even went up to the Uetliberg, to see some amazing sights!

By now I’m in Krakow, Poland already, getting ready for 3 gigs in 3 cities in 3 days. Oeuff!
But I’m psyched! Poland is amazing, let me tell y’all that!
Stay tuned, I’ll blog about Polska in pt. 3!
After that it’ll be Munich, London, and Graz- and in less than 2 weeks I will be back in lovely lovely Hong Kong! EEEEYAYESSS!
Do wizdenia for now!

Where is home?

Wednesday April 23, 2008.
Well, let’s get this mofo started!
I’ve left my olde German life behind to go East in November ’07.
First destination: Shanghai, China.
P1000865
Food poisoning and a solid flu made me lock myself in, so I set the aircon on 30°C, ordered pizza and fooled around with tunes.
You can find the result right here:

After just my first 3 months in Asia, it was time to pack my suitcase again. So i ended up touring 12 weeks, from early February until now!
First up was Germany.

Spent some time in Berlin
cruised the Autobahn for a while,

played lots of gigs throughout Germany and Switzerland,

and chilled in the Swiss Alps.

Next up, NYC was calling. So i jumped on a plane to hit the Big Apple!

Love it and had a few decent gigs there too.

After  a couple weeks in NYC, i went down to Miami for a while,

then again some more Germany, Switzerland and UK,

and now i’m here in Frankfurt, Germany. Waiting for my flight to Hong Kong.

Might settle there for a bit!
